Established in 2018, the Latin American Music Festival (LAMFEST) has become a cultural beacon in Boston, focusing on Latin American classical composers as well as traditional indigenous and folk music. These rich musical traditions, born from post-colonial history, carry profound cultural significance. By combining these genres, we aim to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that fosters a sense of safety and belonging for families, while providing educational enrichment through music and the arts.
May of 2024, LAMFEST officially became a nonprofit organization, expanding its impact through the launch of the Latin American Music & Arts Center. This new initiative is dedicated to elevating lives by offering Ivy League-level education to underserved communities in Boston. With a world renowned team of professional educators and musicians, we are committed to bringing high-quality music and arts education to those who need it most, uniting forces to make a lasting difference in the lives of local families.
Since our inception in 2018, marked by the triumphant return of the legendary composer, conductor, and guitarist Leo Brouwer to Boston, LAMF has forged impactful collaborations with prestigious institutions such as the New England Conservatory, Northeastern University, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Rivers School Conservatory, the New Arts Center of Newton, and Carriage House Violins, among others. Together, we curate an exceptional faculty comprising sought-after teachers and performers, offering individual lessons, masterclasses, workshops, and engaging public performances both online and in person throughout the Greater Boston Area. LAMF is not just a festival; it’s a catalyst for musical excellence and cultural exchange, uniting diverse communities in a shared celebration of Latin American musical heritage.”
